Canterbury DHB

Context

Management

There are two essential components in the management of these patients – does the patient have iron deficiency, and if so, what is its cause? The correction of iron deficiency with oral, or rarely parenteral iron, should be started while establishing the cause if this is not obvious. Investigations into the cause of iron deficiency will be guided by the clinical findings.
