Drug-Induced Neutropenia
Management will depend on the severity of the neutropenia and the clinical state of the patient. This should include an assessment of their ability to care for themselves as an outpatient.
- If WBC <3 x 100/L or neutrophils <1.5 x 109/L, stop the suspected drug.
- General assessment and search for infection if febrile. CXR, MSU and blood cultures if febrile.
- If the patient is unwell, febrile, and the neutrophil count is 1 or less, consider admission. Seek Consultant advice.
