Context

Chronic Knee Synovitis

Use medical management first, but if there is a failure to respond within 10 to 12 weeks, consider arthroscopic synovectomy or radionuclide synovectomy. Develop a treatment plan in consultation with the relevant specialists.

Treatment Regimen

FVIII 15 to 20 u/kg daily or FIX 20 to 30 u/kg daily for two weeks then review.

Ongoing intensive treatment daily to three times weekly as required.

 

Prednisone 1 mg/kg 5 days

 

Night splinting to immobilise ; day splints to protect joint

 

Isometric exercises of adjacent muscles

Endpoint: Continue up to three months. In non-response, do not continue beyond three months and consider alternative management.
