Context

Investigation for DVT/PE

This should be as outlined earlier, but note that radiation doses should be held to the minimum. U/S, repeated as required, should be used to diagnose DVT, and venography is rarely if ever used. A Perfusion Lung Scan is the preferred initial investigation for PE. However, if massive PE is suspected, an ECHO should be the initial test to be done.
