Pre-Transplant Psychological Assessment

Unless medical, urgent, or geographical circumstances preclude referral, all patients are to be seen by the Clinical Psychologist once they have been informed of the decision for transplant. The purposes of this consultation are as follows:

A written referral is not necessary. The BMT Co-ordinator will arrange an appointment time suitable to the patient and Clinical Psychologist. Generally it is preferable to arrange this earlier rather than later in the pre-transplant period, especially if the patient resides outside of Christchurch.

A letter summarising this assessment is sent to relevant team members.
