Electronic Transfer of Radiology Images from Other Hospitals

The electronic transfer of diagnostic imaging studies between the CDHB and some radiology providers is available. Links have been established with:

• Christchurch Radiology Group (CRG): including St George’s Radiology, Southern Cross Radiology, Cashmere Radiology (TPMH) and After Hours Radiology (Bealey Avenue).
• Grey Hospital via CRG.
• Wairau Hospital (Blenheim) via CRG.
• Timaru Hospital via CRG.
• Canterbury Medical Imaging (CMI) Radiology.
• Nelson Hospital.

To Request Image Transfer:

• Urgent: available within 4 hours (e.g., trauma case, urgent consultation).
  • Phone The Radiology Office, 80770, who will advise on who to contact, dependent on day and time.
• Non-Urgent: available within 24 hours. Make requests Monday to Friday 0730-1600 by email or fax. The "Request to Transfer Images into PACS" form is found on the Intranet (go to Intranet home page / Forms / Radiology / Request to Transfer Images into PACS, or intraweb/forms/PDF/Docs/pacs-request-form.pdf. Incomplete request forms will be returned).

To View Images:

Images transferred electronically can be viewed via the CDHB PACS. If images are not found by a patient hospital number, search using patient name only. Not all outside sites enter the hospital number; if a study has only recently been transferred, merging with the patient’s CDHB PACS file may not have been completed. You may need to limit or constrain your search, enter a relevant date range, and/or specific study type.
