Context

Consolidation

After achieving haematological CR, patients will receive 3 successive courses of consolidation chemotherapy and tretinoin (ATRA).

AIDA

Each cycle will start at haematological recovery, i.e ANC > 1.5 X 109/L and platelets >100 X 109/L.

Cycle 1

Tretinoin 45 mg/m2/day PO in 2 divided doses from day 1-15.

Idarubicin 5 mg/kg/day by short (20 minute) infusion on days 1-4 (four doses).

Cycle 2

Tretinoin 45 mg/m2/day PO in 2 divided doses from day 1-15.

Mitoxantrone 10 mg/m2/day as 30 minute infusion on days 1-5 (five doses).

Cycle 3

Tretinoin 45 mg/m2/day PO in 2 divided doses from day 1-15.

Idarubicin 12 mg/m2 by short (20 minute) infusion on day 1.
