Canterbury DHB

Medicines Access Programmes, including Compassionate Supply

The CDHB has a policy on medicines access programmes. This policy can be found on the Clinical Pharmacology home page.

The Clinical Director and the Pharmacy department should be made aware of any medications used in this way, before stock is ordered.

Prescribers and patients should be aware of the conditions under which the medication is supplied by the sponsor.

The DHB has no responsibility to continue supplying medication after the programme/arrangement ends. Prescribers and patients need to sign acknowledgement forms to this effect before the pharmacy department can dispense these medications. These forms can also be found on the Clinical Pharmacology home page.
