Context

Referral to GP for Shared Care

Once the specialist has decided on the management, the patient’s ongoing care can be shared between the haematology clinic and their general practitioner. In general terms, the GP monitors the patient’s blood counts and makes any minor dose adjustments required. The specialist reviews the patient yearly and sees the patient if first-line treatment is not tolerated.
